OUR FOUNDER,

ISMAIL  LAHER

Ismail was a partner at a global law firm and practised as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer for 12 years. In addition to his general mergers and acquisitions practice, he also started and led the BEE practice, provided structuring and management advice, had a trust law practice, advised on various renewable energy projects, and had a team of people reporting to him (two of whom subsequently became partners within two years of Ismail leaving the firm).

Outside of his legal practice, he was on the supervisory board (the elected board of the law firm) and was a member of the recruitment committee of the firm, as well as a member of the internal professional development committee.

In his spare time, he has provided training through various pro bono initiatives to assist and train small and start-up businesses as part of various business-incubation programmes. He decided to leave the practice of law in October 2018 and now runs a private equity fund for RMB Corvest and LBI Consulting. Ismail also holds a non-executive position in a business, where he assists with management on an ongoing basis.

Outside of work, Ismail enjoys playing and watching football and practises yoga as a way to relax and to help broaden the mind. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family, which includes walking his dogs at the park.

Ismail’s wealth of experience in establishing and providing guidance on corporate governance and management structures is backed up by his role in a private equity fund, where he analyses financial models whilst also running his own consulting business. This provides him with the ideal expertise  to provide you with practical, insightful, realistic, and strategic consulting advice, or to fulfil  the role of an independent non-executive or trustee.
